Even when you use cover scent be sure to keep the wind on your side. Try your best to have the wind in your face or if that isn’t possible you can have a cross wind from left to right or right to left but just be sure to keep an eye on your down-wind side. Don’t be surprised when using cover scent to have a predator come in with the wind blowing right at them.

PREDATOR HUNTING: USING COVER SCENTS
This is an area where predator hunters will disagree. I prefer to use cover scent because you cannot fully get rid of the human scent without help. You can wash your clothes with non-brightening, non-UV enhancing detergents that don’t have scent but realize that your gun, caller, hat etc will still absorb your scent. Most Elk and Deer hunters use artificial scent religiously and most predators smell 10X better then Elk and Deer. I highly recommend cover scents but whether or not you use them is up to you.
If you do decide to use cover scents I recommend either skunk scent or fox urine. If I use skunk scent I do not spray my stuff with the scent. I usually put the scent on a cotton ball and hang it from my shooting sticks or when I get to the stand I put the cotton ball on a tree branch (just be sure to pick it up and take it with you when you are done). When I use fox urine I spray the bottom of my boots and my shooting sticks/caller.
