Speaking of changing your drawers

I waited another minute or so in silence and started to call again. I heard a noise behind me, this time it was closer, I couldn’t stand it so I laid my rifle on my lap rested my arms on my gun and leaned out around the Cedar tree I was sitting in front of. What happened after that still raises the hair on my neck.

Have you ever looked an animal in the eye, smelled its breath or had its ears tickle your nose? I looked behind me around the tree and looked this Bobcat square in the eye. Have you ever heard a Bobcat scream? Man it was loud and it was scary. I am not sure what scream was louder mine or his. If you are calling and hear a noise behind you, will you look to see what it is? I bet if you remember this story you will. I know I will start having an extra eye on the back of my head from now on and I will start bringing an extra change of shorts too.

I was on a coyote hunt near Flagstaff, AZ. If you have never hunted near Flagstaff there are Pine and Cedar trees. If you get in the Pine trees on a hill you can sit down and see forever because the branches on Pine trees start growing high on the tree.

On to the hunt, I found an area I just knew there would be coyotes. I sat in front of a Cedar tree looking downhill under the Pine trees. I started the stand with the Tally Ho making it as raspy as I could. I called for
about a minute until my lungs and lip started hurting. I waited about a minute or two and started calling again. This time I heard a noise from behind me but I couldn’t see around the Cedar tree so I brushed it off as a squirrel just biting off the Pine branches. (Most of you know what I am talking about; squirrels do it all the time, usually when you are deer hunting). I kept calling trying to get the pack of coyotes I knew were out there to come in.
