On this stand, Brandon and I set up in a wide open field with tall grass and a deep wash to our right. The only area that can’t be seen here is the bottom of the wash.

          I placed the call about 20 yards in from of me. Brandon set up in front of a tree to my right closest to the wash. I turned on the call and within a minute the coyote came running up the side of the wash to the only tree between him and the call. I could barely get the camera turned on it happened so fast.

          The coyote ran up to the tree that Brandon was sitting in front of and sat down by Brandon. I think Brandon was stunned for a minute, because it happened so fast. His gun was on his shooting sticks but he was facing the other direction so he was unable to get the gun on the coyote. After what seemed like forever, really only a couple of seconds, Brandon went to move his gun into shooting angle with the coyote.

The coyote caught the movement and ran toward the wash, then circled back around toward the call the whole time looking at Brandon trying to figure out what the heck he was and why the trees were moving. The coyote got to within 7 yards of the call before Brandon pulled the trigger.
